A century ago, the people of Japan sent 3,000 cherry blossom trees to our nation?s capital city, Washington, DC, as a symbol of the growing friendship between their country and ours. Today, more than one million people visit our capital each year to see the blossoming cherry trees for themselves and celebrate the beginning of spring. I interview Susan Norton, Chair of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, discuss the history of the cherry blossoms and what this year?s festival offered to visitors.
