Welcoming DREAMers to Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine
August 4, 2014
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) attended a ceremony welcoming Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine's Class of 2018 - which includes seven "DREAMers,"- on their first day of school in Maywood on Monday, August 4. Nearly two years ago, Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine became the first medical school to accept applicants who qualify for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Durbin first introduced the DREAM Act in 2001 and the Administration's DACA program - launched in 2012 - was modeled on the DREAM Act.
