U.S. Senator Dick Durbin discussed his Dietary Supplement Labeling Act just days after the Food and Drug Administration declared "Lazy Larry" brownies--formerly known as "Lazy Cakes"--unsafe for containing the unapproved food additive melatonin. Durbin sent a letter to the FDA earlier this year raising concerns about products such as the brownies because they are marketed as dietary supplements and thus do not require approval by the FDA for use as additives in food.
