Durbin, Duckworth Meet with Quad Cities Chamber
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with the Quad Cities Chamber (QCC) and local leaders from the Quad Cities region to discuss local priorities for economic development. During their meeting, the Senators and QCC members spoke about the Chicago to Quad Cities Passenger Rail Project, for which Durbin has secured more than $177 million in federal funding.
The meeting also focused on how the federal government can support the area’s economic development projects, child care affordability and accessibility, office conversion and housing projects, and Rock Island Arsenal.
“The Quad Cities offer so much to our state’s economy,” said Durbin. “In my meeting with the Quad Cities Chamber today, I reaffirmed my commitment to working at the federal level to support the needs of the Quad Cities region, including ongoing efforts like the Chicago to Quad Cities rail project and ensuring national investment in Rock Island Arsenal.”
“It was great to speak with the Quad Cities Chamber members and leadership today to discuss the ways Senator Durbin and I can continue helping support development from the federal level throughout the region,” said Duckworth. “I look forward to proceeding to work together on our shared goals to boost the Quad Cities economy through investments in infrastructure, transportation systems, affordable childcare and more that will bring new opportunities for local businesses and working families alike.”
