Durbin Meets With Bloomington-Normal One Voice

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met with members of Bloomington-Normal One Voice, who represent local government, labor, education, and business.  Durbin discussed transportation priorities, including the recently announced $13 million federal BUILD grant for a new underpass in Normal.  Durbin also discussed rural broadband and the new Rivian vehicle manufacturing plant in Normal.  Amazon plans to purchase 100,000 electric delivery vans from Rivian by 2030.

“It was great to see Mayor Koos and members of Bloomington-Normal One Voice today. We are excited about the infrastructure investments being made in the community that will expand economic growth in the region. I will continue to look for ways to bring federal dollars home to meet Bloomington-Normal’s transportation and infrastructure needs,” Durbin said.

Normal recently won federal a BUILD grant to fund the final design of the Normal Underpass. Durbin led a letter of support for the grant funding with Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Representatives Rodney Davis (R-IL-13) and Darin LaHood (R-IL-18).
