Durbin Statement on Senate Passage of Short Term Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement on Senate passage of the Continuing Resolution (CR), which will fund the federal government through December 23, 2022:

“The short term CR that passed the Senate today is essential to keeping the government funded through December 23.  But now, Congress must roll up its sleeves and pass a government funding bill next week that adequately addresses our nation’s greatest challenges.  We cannot kick the can to the next Congress.

“The omnibus bill will support health care for our senior citizens and veterans, infrastructure projects to rebuild and revitalize our communities, and community violence prevention programs to keep our kids and families safe.  These are real solutions to the urgent problems American families deal with every day.  We must do our job and fully fund the government.”
