Fair Sentencing Act
Durbin speaks to the press after the House passed his Fair Sentencing Act. The bill, which now goes to the President for his signature, reduces the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine from 100:1 to 18:1. The passage of Durbin’s bill marks the first time congress has repealed a mandatory minimum since the Nixon administration.
