Durbin Meets With Climate Leadership Council
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) met virtually with the Climate Leadership Council to discuss carbon pricing and climate change policy. On the call, Durbin spoke about his own legislation, America’s Clean Future Fund Act. Durbin’s legislation would reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the U.S. transition to a green economy by leveraging revenue raised by a carbon fee to fund a new federal agency called the Climate Change Finance Corporation. Durbin and the Climate Leadership Council also discussed the private sector’s role in pushing for real action against climate change.
“The climate crisis is a real, existential threat that we must tackle head-on. By following the science and working alongside organizations like the Climate Leadership Council, we can integrate meaningful climate action into public policy to ensure that our grandkids inherit a healthier planet,” said Durbin.
